Extra Special Ideas/Accents for Your Wedding Guests

You have probably read a ton of articles on wedding favors, drinks, food, and music. One aspect that many people do not plan for their wedding day is adding an extra special touch for guests. Bub and I probably went a little overboard on the additional special touches.  The additional things we did for our guests all certainly took additional effort, but we are so happy that we spent the time and money to do them. We still receive compliments to this day on how we made our wedding day not only about us, but about our family and friends as well. We were thrilled that guests felt extra special at our wedding because everyone there was very special to us. Here are some examples of things that you can do to make your guests feel extra special and add that additional touch of class to your big day.

  • Powder Room/Toiletry Basket – You can fill this basket with all the things your wedding guests may need but forgot to take to your wedding. For guys, put these items in the basket: Breath Freshening Mouthwash, Lotion, Eye drops, Floss, Lint brush, Altoids, Tums, and Chapstick. In addition to these, for the ladies, you can add perfume, hair pins and hair ties, hairspray, and feminine products. • Tears of joy tissue pouches – My aunt made these for my wedding, and the guests loved it. (A few guests confessed they couldn’t even use the tissue because it was so cute. Other guests took extra ones to show family members that were getting married.) We personalized the ones for our wedding by adding a pink ribbon, and the tissues were pink as well! Here are the instructions. They are super easy to make, and that extra touch is something guests will always remember!

  • Fans – If you are having a summer wedding, this is a great idea. Not only are fans cute, but guests will definitely appreciate them on a hot wedding day. You can get an old-fashioned fan or you can go with a modern one. There are many color choices for both options, and you can even get your names and wedding date printed on the fans. You don’t even have to spend a ton of money here, because you can find these on websites for an inexpensive price.  Oriental Trading has some cute modern ones for a reasonable price.  Bub and I got ours from Luna bazaar!  Impress your guests with a basket of these cute fans at your wedding entrance.

  • Personalized thank you notes – Bub and I received a countless number of compliments for doing this. We wrote a personalized thank you note to each couple. If there were single guests, we wrote them one too. Our guest list count was 300, so we wrote around 150 personalized thank you notes and sat them on the table at the wedding before guests arrived. We started writing these as soon as people RSVP’d. One suggestion we have is to not write “thank you for coming to the wedding” on your note, but to be sure to include something personal in it.  For example, if family came in from a different state, write that you hope they had a nice trip. You could also include inside jokes. The more personalized you get, the more guests know that you truly wrote the note for them. Just one caveat, you will still need to send out your formal thank you notes after the wedding. Yes, these extra thank you notes took us a ton of time, but for as much as it meant to our guests, we are so happy we did it!

Tell us your extra special wedding ideas!
